3 Destinations to Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day

Whether you’ve got Irish roots or not, St. Patrick’s Day is the perfect celebration to help you break free of those winter blahs. If you find yourself in any of these festive cities on March 17th, you’re in for a treat! Don your green garb, dust off your dancing shoes, and get ready to raise a glass to a truly good time. Discover three of the top St. Patrick’s Day celebrations across the country.

1. Savannah, Georgia.

Georgia’s oldest city is full of southern charm, and it brings a unique flair to St. Paddy’s celebrations. It boasts the third largest St. Patrick’s Day parade in the world, and the second largest in the U.S. behind New York City. Join over 300,000 people for a day of friends, family, and fun. The main hubs for shenanigans are River Street and City Market, where you’ll find exciting vendors, lots of live music, and of course a green beer or two.

2. Chicago, Illinois.

Where else but the Windy City for St. Patrick’s Day? Start the day with the famous river dyeing ceremony. You can watch from the shore of the Chicago River at the intersection of Columbus and Wacker Drive or from the bridge at Michigan Avenue. You’ll have time to pop in to an Irish pub for a pint and a hearty breakfast before the parade begins at noon. The parade lasts for about three hours and is chock-full of Irish dance troupes, bagpipe bands, colorful floats and waving flags. Many neighborhoods also host their own celebrations. Take a tour around the city and see for yourself!

3. Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Named among the Top 10 Spots in the World to Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day by Irish Central, March 17th in Hot Springs promises to be an unforgettable party. It boasts the world’s shortest St. Patrick’s Day Parade—just 98 feet from start to finish—but draws over 30,000 revelers per year. Get all shook up with Irish Elvis impersonators, grab a selfie with the world’s largest inflatable leprechaun, and pucker up for the Kissing of the Arkansas Blarney Stone Contest.

Wherever you’ll be toasting your Irish roots (imagined or otherwise), InTown Suites offers affordable, convenient accommodations at our extended stay properties across the country.
